1825 ENGRAVED PEWTER LAVABO WATER RECEPTACLE BRONZE HANDLES FIGURAL FAUCET

Early 1800s engraved pewter LAVABO. Hand engraved with wreath/floral design and the date 1825, along with other partially legible letters (possibly "A B E," with worn letters above). This type of engraving is called "wiggle work" or "wriggle work." 

Figural bronze faucet, possibly in the form of a lion's head. Bronze handles for carrying or wall mounting. 7 1/2 inches wide, 7 inches tall, and 3 3/4 inches deep at the center (not counting the length of the faucet). Weighs 3 1/2 pounds.

Excellent condition for a piece nearly 200 years old. Some hairline cracks along top edge but no large cracks, no dents, no holes. Nice patina. Faucet no longer functional. Piece may have had lid at one time.
