35 MILLIMETER MOVIE TRAILER FILM BOWL BY ARTIST BRIAN JEWETT 1991

Regular price $475.00

This unusual piece is a "film bowl," made of tightly wound original 35mm movie film. Artist Brian Jewett made a small number of these fascinating bowls in the 1990s, in which he transformed discarded film into functional art. The result is highly creative and visually compelling. You can see around the bowl the film sprockets and markings from the film. If you hold the bowl up to the light, you can see the hundreds of layers of film and the sprockets.

The bowl is in excellent condition. It’s 7.25in in diameter and 3.375 deep.

On his website, Jewett says of these bowls,

“I made these film bowls for just a short while. They were extremely delicate and a huge amount of work. I had to clean every foot of film, blend and splice for color variations, fuss over the finish and answering endless phone calls trying to sort out which scenes came from which movies.  Most of these sold to ‘industry folks’ in Los Angeles and they didn’t want to give someone a gift with a competitors film on the rim.”

A rare and interesting piece. Shipped at no charge in the U.S.
