Jan. 26, 1898 canceled check signed by 19th Century American philosopher John Fiske, author of Outlines of Cosmic Philosophy and other works. The check, No. 10267, is Fiske's personal check with his name printed on the left side, and is drawn on the Cambridge Safe Deposit and Trust Company for $2.85. It is made out to a "M. M. Lawin."
Fiske has signed the check in ink, clearly and distinctly. The signature is in the clear, and has not been interrupted with any of the back cancellations, markings, etc.
