Rare set of three Cuban MNR Battalion Bay of Pigs medals. Members of the MNR fought against the U.S. in the 1961 Bay of Pigs invasion. These medals commemorate the anniversaries of the formation of the MNR (Milicias nacionales Revolucionarias or National Revolutionary Militias) was formed by Fidel Castro in 1960

"to enable citizens to defend the country from the threat of military aggression, particularly from the United States, and for the protection of civilian targets against actions of armed or counterrevolutionary groups possibly originating from the U.S. and other countries of the Caribbean."

Offered are three medals as follows:

MNR 20th Anniversary Medal Battalion 111. Steel painted and enameled with green beret and black machine gun on blue background. Engraved "MNR Bon 111 XX Aniversario." 1.5 inch / 39mm medallion suspended from bar with wreath design, with original suspension ring and pin back. Very good condition with some paint loss.

MNR 25th Anniversary Medal Battalion 111. Steel with gold colored plating, with enamel green beret, automatic weapon, flag and MNR crossed rifles coat of arms on red enamel background. Raised letters "XXV Aniversario Giron." Giron indicates Playa Giron, the beach on the Bay of Pigs where the invasion took place. 1.2 inch / 30mm medallion suspended from red enamel bar engraved "Bon 111," with original suspension ring and pin back. Very good condition.

MNR 20th Anniversary Medal Battalion 120. Steel with silver colored plating, ed and green enamel and paint. Embossed letters "Bon 120 XX Aniversario." 1.5 inch / 39mm medallion suspended from green enamel bar with wreath. With original suspension ring and pin back. Very good condition.
