GERMAN WWI MILITARY PHOTOS 28 SLIDES ORIGINAL RARE
Unusual collection of 28 German WWI military photographs. These are one-of-a-kind 3 1/4" by 3 1/4" original black and white photo transparencies, glass mounted for use in a "magic lantern" projector. These are handmade slides that do not appear to be a commercial set. Images include a soldier in a gas mask, soldiers sitting on a large anti-aircraft gun, a German officer among what appear to be Turkish citizens, snipers, arms factories, nurses, battlefield destruction, etc. There are some humorous images as well, such as a soldier sharing his pipe with his dog, and soldiers getting shaves from the barber.
Condition of the slides is mixed, but the majority of the images are intact and easy to view. Slides are original c. 1915 vintage, quite a few chipped or cracked. The chips and cracks are in the glass carriers, not the actual photos. Some photos are damaged. Please see photos for condition. Images 5 and 6 in this listing are the worst damaged, with a couple others more like images 7, 9 and 11. In most cases, this damage does not detract from the appeal of the picture.
