The artist's name and the date of the original painting are visible in the barrel the young man is leaning on. The 1759 date is the date of the original Boucher painting, not the plate. You will see many of these plates inaccurately listed as having been made in 1759. Boucher did not make plates. Any examples of this plate were made around 1895 to 1915, 150 years after his death, making it difficult indeed for him to sign one.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eWe have seen two variations of this plate. The original La Marotte in the Louvre depicts the young man on the left side of the scene, as does this plate.
