EARLY 19TH CENTURY OFFICER'S FULL DRESS MILITARY UNIFORM COATEE
Early 19th Century officer's full dress coatee. A great looking uniform jacket in the style of the American Revolution, but more likely a diplomatic coat. Similar in cut, styling, buttons, etc. to the 1790s diplomatic coat of Charles Cotesworth Pinckney, minister to France under George Washington (see final image) though Pinckney's uniform is silk and this jacket is wool.
Good condition for its age, numerous moth holes, tears, repairs but complete and generally solid. Lining and fasteners intact. Marked "Lm 363" inside.
A rare, attractive uniform.
