MONUMENTAL 1991 ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONIST OIL PAINTING ON BOARD SIGNED ARA TEVKANTZ
Large abstract expressionist oil painting by Armenian American artist Ara Tevkantz. Signed by the artist and dated 1991. A striking and unusual piece which appears to be either oil or acrylic on foil with some encaustic highlighting.
The piece is 44 1/2 inches by 29 3/4 inches, painted in bright colors of gold, yellow, purple, turquoise and red, and in excellent condition. It is unframed and mounted on a larger mat board measuring 47 1/2 inches by 36 inches.

Ara Tevkantz, an "Armenian renowned artist, (and) a bright star of the Armenian avant-garde, was born in 1956 in Yerevan, Armenia into the family of one of the renowned 600 year old dynasties, the Tevkantz from the ancient Armenian province of Vaspurakan. It was a dynasty of visual artists and spiritual leaders of Armenian orthodox Christianity. His grandfather was a master teacher of Archil Gorky, one of the geniuses of world contemporary art."
