Handwritten note, signed 31 October, 1936 by French author André Maurois (1885-1967). Dimensions: 5 x 8.25 inches. Some paper toning, overall very good condition. No holes or tears. Previous mounting in corners visible if held to light. On watermarked "Original Crown Mill" note paper. The note is handwritten and signed by Maurois, with his name typed below along with the date and place, "Paris, 31 oct.36."

Inscribed nicely with a quote as follows:

Ne donnons pas a maudire nos ennemis une seule minute

Que nous aurion pas donnes a aimer nos amis

Translated:

Let us not give a single minute to cursing our enemies

Maurois was a French author, born in the Herzog family, notable textilers who moved their entire workforce and industry to Elbeuf during the Franco-Prussian war. He wrote several works, many of which were translated and sold in the US. From the estate of a prominent collector who resided in Vienna.
