ANTIQUE 1914 BLACK FOREST STYLE ORNATELY CARVED EDUCATIONAL SCHOOL BAROMETER

Antique 1914 ornately carved oak barometer with elements of German Black Forest and French Second Empire style.

There is a label on the back dated 1914. The label is partially illegible, and mentions a class, subject, and a student named “Percy” who is also some kind of clerk, suggesting the barometer may have been a project in a school or vocational institution.

17 ¾ inches high, 11 ½ inches wide at the top, and 2 inches to 2 ½ inches (at the top) deep. The barometer mechanism is 5 inches in diameter, and has its original beveled glass.

In overall excellent condition, and appears to be in working condition. The mechanism looks complete and free of corrosion.

The barometer is an aneroid barometer, which means it has no mercury, so it’s safe and legal to ship and safe to display.
